About Civil Services Examination
The CGPSC State Services Examination is conducted in successive stages — Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Interview/Personality Test. The Preliminary Exam serves as a screening stage, while final selection is based on performance in the Main Exam and Interview. Exam Pattern
CGPSC State Services Examination follows a Prelims → Mains → Interview selection process.
Prelims consists of 2 objective papers of 200 marks each, with 2 hours for each paper. Paper II is qualifying in nature, while Paper I determines shortlisting for Mains.
Mains consists of 7 descriptive written papers, each carrying 200 marks, for a total of 1400 marks. Candidates qualifying Mains proceed to the 100-mark Interview/Personality Test.
